About Pitshanger Lane In 1909 Pitshanger Road, as it was then named, was changed to Pitshanger Lane. Since then the Lane has developed, along with the surrounding roads, into a thriving and highly desirable residential area of which many of us, who live in the area, are justifiably proud and wish to retain the “village” atmosphere. This year the Lane will be 100 years old, a centenary which should not be allowed to pass by un-noticed and one that is worthy of recognition and celebration. The idea is for all the activities of the “Pitshanger” organisations (churches, schools, playgroups, choirs, dance and music clubs, historic societies, local businesses, etc.) to have an additional common heading of “100 Years of Pitshanger” on any publicity for these events. We are aiming to co-ordinate the events planned by all organisations into a year long centenary calendar to prevent any duplication and to achieve maximum community participation. Please join in and help to develop our ideas for a memorable 100 years of Pitshanger. For further information, or to offer help or ideas, pleas contact: john.waters@pitshanger.org.uk |
