29TH JUNE 2008 - BIG FUN FOR
EVERYONE AT PITSHANGER PARK
On Sunday 29th June, thousands of residents from
Pitshanger and the surrounding areas will be treated
to a day full of fun and entertainment at the hugely
popular Party in the Park. A spectacular annual
summer event that promises to be big fun for
everyone whatever the weather, the day is sponsored
by
Northfields and organised by the
PCA and its local
volunteers. The party is held in Pitshanger Park,
Meadvale Road, Ealing W5 from 1-9pm.
One of the best known faces on television news,
John Sergeant, will be opening the event together
with local MP Steve Pound and Ealing Mayor,
Councillor Ian Green. Regular attractions include
the main stage and bar featuring live music and
dance plus the finals of the ‘Pitshanger
PopStar’ singing competition. Visitors will also
be able to enjoy a mouth watering variety of food
and drink at the Gastrodome. The Craft Village
offers a huge array of tempting goods and there are
kids’ activities galore including Peter’s Puppets
and free rides on a beautiful vintage carousel
courtesy of the traders in Pitshanger Lane. There
will also be sports and football competitions, a
barbeque and the chance to meet local police, fire
and ambulance crews. Back due to popular demand,
Village Vet will also be including the hilarious
sausage race in the dog show again this year.
New attractions include a ride for toddlers plus
a huge range of activities and races on the day
organised by
Fit For Sport. Family groups can tackle an
obstacle course in the Family Fitness Challenge
whilst those who are game for a laugh will get the
chance to don a padded Sumo wrestling costume and
bounce around the Arena with a roly-poly opponent!
Extra fun is also to be had knocking over your
competitors in an inflatable ‘Gladiators’ style game
sponsored by solicitors
Prince Evans. Thanks to a
half pipe being built and sponsored by local
building firm
Duttons, skateboarding fans will also be able to
watch the professionals in action.
To help cover the cost of the event and to raise
funds for Pitshanger Community Association projects
and other local causes, entry is charged at £2 per
adult (under 16s go free) which includes a programme
or a wristband.
In the interest of protecting the environment,
the PCA will be providing recycling facilities at
this year’s event and would like visitors to use the
bins provided. Visitors are also asked to look out
for the Scouts who will be circulating and
collecting waste for recycling. The PCA has kindly
requested that no glass is brought onto the site. |
