The environmental charity Thames21 are running two River Brent Family volunteer days during the Summer, on Monday 24th June 10.30am to 3pm, and Monday 5th August 10.30am to 3pm, meet at Ealing Golf Club.
These two sessions will focus on the Pitshanger stretch of the River Brent, and we are grateful to Ealing Golf Club for agreeing access to their side of the river (and also providing some volunteer helpers, we hear). Thames 21 are looking for as many volunteers as possible to help improve the River Brent and its banks. They will be clearing out rubbish from the river bed, which is reducing the flow and the oxygen levels of the watercourse. As a result the ecology of the river will improve. The Brent has been highlighted by the Environment Agency as a key area which could be improved in Ealing.
All you need to do is turn up ready to get stuck in. This special event is suitable for the whole family. Thames21 will bring nets and trays to do some river dipping too and explore local wildlife. All equipment and tools will be provided but please let organiser Judith Ressler me know your shoe size in advance, at judith [dot] ressler [at] thames21 [dot] org [dot] uk (subject: River%20Brent%20Family%20Volunteer%20Days) ( judith [dot] ressler [at] thames21 [dot] org [dot] uk).
