On the Lane

Tony Navarro of Navarro Wines has been joined by long-time friend and associate, Ciro Scolastico, to double at a stroke the wine expertise and knowledge available in the shop. Ciro, as his name might suggest, has particular knowledge of Italian wines. Navarro's hold free wine tastings on Friday and Saturdays between 5 and 8 pm.

We're pleased to welcome new trader Frank & Salvi to the Lane. The boutique will retail ladies clothes and accessories that are current and competitively priced, and will stock brands that are designed in London and which are also stocked in the likes of Topshop. The business is named after the owner Francesca Vuoto and her late grandfather Salvatore. By chance, Frank & Salvi opened just a couple of days before Light Up The Lane, and they very gamely stayed open for the event, welcoming hordes of shoppers. Note to Francesca: Pitshanger Lane isn't necessarily like that every Sunday evening.

Only in Pitshanger – well-spoken man in William Hill's betting shop: "Have you the odds for the World Chess Championship, please?" And perhaps even posher, Ray's Fruit Bowl have gathered enough orders to go for their bulk purchase of black truffles, with local epicures pitching in for anything between 10g and 50g of the precious fungus.
