We were very pleased to see that over 20 volunteers turned up to help remove rubbish from the river Brent during a clean-up day linked to the national “Clean for the Queen” initiative on Saturday 5th March, organised by the environmental charity Thames21. Kitted out with gloves, wellies and in some cases even waders, the volunteers removed a magnificent 63 black bags of rubbish from in and near the water. Our special thanks go to one of the volunteers who slipped and became rather better acquainted with the river than he intended. Fortunately there was no harm done and he was ferried home in the Thames21 van to dry off! We will continue to cooperate with Thames 21 and will bring you news of further initiatives when we have it.
