PCA Winter Update 2016

In This Issue

The PCA and the Drayton Community Association have been asked about the possibility of Guyatt’s Funfair coming to either Cleveland Park or Scotch Common at some point between July and September.  Previously based at Elthorne Park, the Council and the Funfair are looking for an alternative location, in the interest of minimising excessive use of the ground at the present site.

Consisting of 6-8 rides plus a small children’s ride area, the Fair would operate Thursday to Sunday one weekend sometime during the School Summer holidays, with set up/take down taking a few days either side. Opening hours would be 12pm to 8pm.

The Council have asked us for views by 15 January.  Your Committee is not persuaded, despite Council assurances of strict monitoring of contractual obligations, that either Park is the right place for a funfair of this type, as we have concerns on a number of issues, not least access and damage to the area. We think that the land at Gurnell Leisure Centre may present a better option for a number of reasons.  If you have a view either for or against, please email us at pca [at] pitshanger [dot] org [dot] uk (subject: Funfair%20Proposal) ( pca [at] pitshanger [dot] org [dot] uk) or call Linda Rivans on 07947 441017.

We've decided to give you all a bit more revision time to prepare for the Street Wars quiz, so have shifted the date to Saturday, 27th February 2016.

The venue for Street Wars, where the finest brains of Pitshanger do battle in street-based teams, is Brentham Club and the start time is 7.30pm.  The team size is up to ten people and the ticket price is £12.50 per person including nibbles and a sausage & mash meal (with veggie alternative).  There will be a cash bar available.  Our regular quizmaster John Bottom will be back and is already researching some devilish challenges for us.  For reservations and enquiries please contact Tina Moonen via tina [dot] moonen [at] pitshanger [dot] org [dot] uk (subject: Street%20Wars) ( tina [dot] moonen [at] pitshanger [dot] org [dot] uk) or 020 8810 6497.  Tina will be happy to combine smaller groups or individuals into a team.

We'll be back with a full edition of the PCA Newsletter later in January.
