  • It’s All Happening At St Barnabas

    The St Barnabas Summer Proms is a major classical music festival running from 20th July until 9th August and is the biggest of its kind to be held in Ealing. There are 10 evening concerts, the first on Saturday 20th July and the others on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for the following three 3 weeks.     It looks as if all the shops along the Lane will soon be fully operational. 'Sweet Tooth' is now trading as a coffee and cake shop and the former Brenda's pet boutique premises at the top of Harrow View Road is in the process of being fitted out. Cinnamon now has new owners, and the old McCreadies butcher's shop is sporting a "sold" sign.
  • A Little More Burgundy, Madame?

    PCA Chairman Karen Jacks turns roving reporter to gives us an account of a Burgundy-themed evening organised by Harrison's and hosted at Chez l'ami David. "On a warm evening in March (yes really!) I went along with husband and two friends to Chez l'ami David to join Belinda and Douglas Harrison for their second Burgundy evening organised in conjunction with the restaurant. We were greeted with a chilled glass of Kir for our aperitif and canapés.

    We thought he was here for the duration, but even Ted Saunders, Pitshanger's longest-serving shopkeeper, has had to call time on a distinguished career in the fish trade. He was born on the Lane above what is now William Hill's betting shop but which was at the time a fishmonger's (H Tedder).
  • No Excuses

    Get fit for summer at the Pitshanger Bootcamp run by Foundation Fitness on Thursday evenings at 7 pm and on Saturday afternoons at 1 pm.  The one-hour sessions are held on the space to the west of the bowling green and cost £10 each with significant reductions for monthly pre-payment.  The first session is free and further details can be obtained from Henry Nicoll on 07540 341695 or at www.foundationfit.co.uk.
